RHSI Bellefield Garden, once the home of architect and garden designer Angela Jupe, was gifted to the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland upon her death in 2021. Her vision was for it to become a centre for practical garden learning and experimentation.

Located in County Offaly, the estate spans 28 acres, including woodland, meadows, bog, and a large walled garden. The house has a diverse history—formerly a stud farm and possibly a hunting lodge—with links to notable events, such as a rumoured visit by Red Rum.

Angela Jupe restored the walled garden after decades of neglect, filling it with her extensive plant collections (e.g., Galanthus, Narcissi, Clematis). Today, Head Gardener Paul Smyth and volunteers continue her work, maintaining a deliberately informal, sustainable Irish garden style that welcomes natural growth and biodiversity. They avoid artificial chemicals and prioritize wildlife, like newts that now breed in a repurposed rill garden.

Current projects include expanding public access with a woodland walk and arboretum extension, and creating a loop walk to nearby Cangort Bog and Shinrone. Bellefield promotes education and community involvement, offering volunteer opportunities and student placements.
