Biography

Tycho is a Dublin-based garden design designer, plantsman and horticulturist. From his base at Howbert & Mays Gardens in Monkstown, Co Dublin, he and his wife run a busy company which carries out garden design, garden consultation as well as sales of plants and other garden-related items. He did his horticultural training at the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, and Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania.

Tycho’s garden design style aims to create gardens that are comfortable, relaxed and at one with the accompanying buildings. Having worked with numerous architectural firms, one of his main goals is to match the garden with the architecture so that a ‘place’ rather than a garden is created. Interesting planting, seasonal diversity and subtle materials: these are trademarks of Tycho’s work.

Tycho’s services range from one-off garden consultations to a full design service. Planting work, planting design and other gardening services can also be arranged. Advice on planting, design and plant-care is also available at Howbert & Mays garden shops in Dunboyne and Monkstown or by arranging a visit.
