Biography

Lisa attained a degree and diploma in Landscape Architecture during the mid-eighties. This training has formed the background to her garden design principles, the practice of creating a comprehensive master plan.  To see the whole picture before going into the detail, a strong structure is the backbone to every garden design.

After college, Lisa worked in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Wandsworth as a Landscape Architectural assistant, until her move to Ireland in 1991.

After working as a free-lance Landscape and Garden Designer for a few years, she then set up Landscape Restoration Design Ltd in 1998 with fellow Garden Designer and Horticulturist, Andrew Glenn-Craigie, FFGLDA. During this time they won a Gold Medals at the Garden Festivals in Kilmainham and Leopardstown.

They enjoyed 20 years of working together until Andrew’s retirement in 2019, when Lisa set up LRD Landscape & Garden Design, continuing the same work practice as she always has since 1991. Services offered include Landscape consultancy, Design, Landscape planning application and Project management.

The business is client orientated, ‘I am the client’s interpreter’, it is important to listen to the brief, use the survey and analysis as your base to maximise the garden design.  The company receives a deal of repeat and word of mouth business. Plans are drawn using AutoCAD and Lisa can work as part of a design team and with other professionals.

Clients include private residencies, planning drawings to accompany applications and commercial. Lisa works from concept plans to working drawings, these are used to price, build and plant the garden.

Lisa is a past Chairperson of the GLDA, a long serving Council member and is one of the Directors. She is a strong advocate of the Garden and Landscape Design profession and encourages and supports new members to join.
