Biography

Dean Lacey owns and operates LandArt Ltd and is an award winning landscape designer. He studied at University College Dublin where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Landscape Horticulture.

After university, Dean spent the next four years working in a Dublin landscaping firm gaining experience in garden design, garden construction and landscape maintenance. During this time, he was awarded three medals, two gold and one silver for the medium and large sized garden designs at the Bloom Festival and Garden Show in Dublin.

Subsequently Dean moved to Sydney, Australia where he spent the next 4 years working on some of Sydney’s finest harbour-side gardens, experiencing new landscaping ideas, techniques and planting styles which he likes to incorporate into his designs.

After working as a landscape designer and landscape gardener for years in high-end landscaping firms, Dean satisfied his lifelong dream to start his own business and as a result LandArt was born.

Energetic and talented, LandArt offers a range of gardening services depending on the project. We have a real appetite for what we do and ensure every job is delivered with remarkable service and pride.

Projects

Templeogue

The client’s main reason for buying the house, was the large rear garden that came with the property. They are a family of five with two pet dogs. Kids have grown up but are still living at home and will be living there for the foreseeable future.

Client’s requests:

  • looking for a WOW garden!
  • want to use the garden as often as possible, even during the winter
  • want a covered area to relax in and to take in the views of the beautiful garden
  • want a beautiful outdoor room at the rear of the garden, which will be a gym
  • want to enjoy the sun for the whole day, so want 2 or 3 patios
  • would like an area to retreat to in the late evening
  • want trees along the boundaries, to filter out the noise from the nearby road
  • want lots of planting to attract wildlife into the garden
  • love colour and flowers, lots of flowers
  • would like a water feature
  • need a new bespoke electric gate on rollers, to divide the front garden from the rear courtyard
  • the garden area is prone to flooding, so need to incorporate a drainage system into the garden

Dundrum

The client’s (a family of 3)  main reason for buying the house was the large, sloping, south facing, rear garden that came with the property.

Client’s requests:

  • looking for a sleek, contemporary garden with a Mediterranean vibe
  • need steps in the garden, but want them to be a feature
  • want an area to relax in, just outside the sliding doors to the rear of the house, to take in the south facing sun and to take in the views of the beautiful garden
  • want another terrace further up the garden, to get the last of the westerly evening sun
  • would like to divide the garden up to 3 distinctive areas
  • would like to retain the mature trees and hedges in the garden
  • would like plenty of lighting, to enjoy the garden in the evening
  • would like lots of planting to attract wildlife into the garden; love blues, whites, purples, silvers, greens and pinks
  • would like good quality lawns, that are easy to maintain

Stepaside

Family of 4. Building an orangery at the rear of the house, so want a beautiful garden to compliment the new building

Client’s requests:

  • looking for a garden to bring our family friends over to entertain in
  • want the garden to be an extension of the orangery
  • would like a bar at the side of the house
  • would like screening espalier trees on the east side of the garden, to screen off the neighbours
  • may need steps in the garden, but want them to be a feature
  • want an area to relax in, just outside orangery, to take in the west facing sun and to take in the views of the beautiful garden
  • love the sound of water, so we would like a large water feature
  • would like to reuse and retain the large granite boulders in the garden
  • would like to retain the mature trees and hedges in the garden
  • would like plenty of lighting, to enjoy the garden in the evening
  • would like generous planting beds; love all planting colours and textures
  • would like a good quality lawn, that is easy for a robot mower to maintain

Testimonials

When we asked Dean to come up with a plan for our new build garden, we were not expecting much, as two other landscape gardeners had refused to price the job because of the size of the garden. From plans to finish Dean and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. From a pile of builders' rubble to an oasis with water feature, fire pit, amazing flowers and lawns. We spend any time we can enjoying this amazing space. Keep up the great work.

This is a wonderful company if you want your garden beautifully designed, stunning to look at in all seasons and practical and workable. This company are Five Star in every department and do exactly what they promise. Dean has built a superb company and his fellow team are just wonderful and hard working people to deal with too. The team were extremely professional. Beautiful work. Will make your heart sing when you see the results. We chose this company as we saw a neighbour's garden "LandArt" had done and were totally impressed. Super work. Will increase the value of your property too in the long run. Money well spent. Wishing you, Dean and your wonderful team every success in the future. Well done and thank you for our gorgeous garden!

Nothing but good things to say about LandArt. Dean designed us a garden that exactly fulfilled the brief we gave him. The whole team did an excellent job on executing the plan. The team were professional, courteous and tidy. Would definitely recommend.

Firstly we were impressed with the LandArt website as the pictures did the talking, then we met Dean, who is truly passionate about how outside the home should look. He listened to what we thought we needed and then delivered an incredible 3-D design for our garden. He worked around us without interruption and delivered the project on-time and on budget. We have no hesitation in recommending Dean and crew from LandArt, just come over and have a look at what we created!
