Biography
Alan Coffey initially studied history at UCD before changing career path and completing a Diploma in Horticulture through the RHS and later a Certificate in Garden Design through Institute of Technology Blanchardstown. He worked as a horticulturalist for a high end lifestyle store and as a manager for a large landscape company before setting up his own design practice, Green Shoots Garden Design, in 2011. Green Shoots Garden Design offered a full-service garden design for small urban courtyards and roof terraces through to large country gardens. Other services included consultancy, project management and planting to private and commercial clients throughout Ireland. During this time, Alan was awarded a gold medal for a medium sized garden at Bloom in the Park 2016. In 2018, Alan joined Murphy & Sheanon as a Landscape Architect. Murphy & Sheanon is a specialist in horticulture and landscape architecture firm, comprehensively catering for projects from start to finish, from concept to design, construction and post-build maintenance. Alan is a full member of the Garden & Landscape Designers Association.
