Biography

Coming from an architectural background, Nicola has a particular interest in linking buildings to their outside spaces and environmental sensitivity is foremost in her schemes. She works closely with her clients to offer bespoke landscape and garden design services that provide uniquely beautiful outside spaces that fit both brief and budget. Now, more than ever, we are looking to our outside spaces as a tonic for body and mind. Nicola is passionate about design as a means to connect people to nature and to promote community and togetherness.

Nicola works on a range of rural and urban gardens ranging in size from small courtyards to 2 acre sites. She has worked for UCD, designing a range of garden spaces including a sensory garden and educational gardens. She has been involved in the design of community gardens and building a garden in a local school with an emphasis on helping the students combat climate change. Other projects include working on a master plan for a local housing estate, helping to get them on to the pollinator plan.

Nicola utilises a wide range of mediums as part of the design process including hand drawn sketches, physical models and 3-D visualisations. This promotes an immensely collaborative relationship and allows her clients to be fully involved in the design process.

As well as full landscape services, she also offers a 2 hour fixed rate consultation for clients who are looking for advice without the need for a full service.

Qualifications

Nicola studied architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, London between 1992 and 1999, achieving a BSc degree in 1995 and a Masters Diploma in 1999. Her final project received a distinction.

She has worked in many architectural offices in the UK and Hong Kong, including Fosters & Partners and Allies & Morrison. The RHS Advanced Certificate in Horticulture she gained in 2010 allowed her to make the move exclusively to landscape design and to working with her own clients.
